Shir for Life (“SFL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit supporting neuroblastoma research, awareness, and family advocacy, including through our Neuroblastoma Day initiative. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you use shirforlife.org, sign up for our emails, register for a webinar, make a donation, or participate in our ambassador, pledge, and fundraising programs.
This Policy applies to supporters in the United States, the EEA and UK, California, and Israel. It reflects our obligations under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA, and Israel’s Protection of Privacy Law.
We collect information you give us directly and information collected automatically when you use our Site.
We do not require sensitive information to use the Site. The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). Parents and guardians may sign children up for ambassador and pledge activities.
We use personal information to operate the Site and our programs, process donations and send tax receipts, administer the ambassador and pledge programs, send newsletters and webinar communications you’ve asked for, respond to your messages, measure campaign performance, and meet legal obligations.
For supporters in the EEA/UK, we rely on your consent (for marketing and non-essential cookies), contract (to deliver services you’ve requested), legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in running our charitable mission.
We do not sell personal information. We share information with trusted service providers who help us run our programs, including:
We may also share information with research, advocacy, or fundraising partners with your consent or where reasonably expected, disclose it when required by law or to protect safety, and transfer it as part of a merger or reorganization. We may share aggregated or de-identified data for research and awareness.
Our service providers are based in several countries, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of marketing or of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising (including via the Global Privacy Control signal). California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA; EEA and UK supporters have them under the GDPR and UK GDPR; Israeli supporters have them under the Protection of Privacy Law.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime using the link in any email. You may also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential Site functionality, analytics, advertising, and remembering your preferences. Where required by law, we ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can also manage cookies through your browser.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by tax, accounting, and legal rules. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, though no system is completely secure.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above, with additional notice where appropriate.
